Sandra Cisneros and Friends: A 25th Anniversary Celebration of The House on Mango Street

Sandra Cisneros will be appearing with Julia Alvarez, Maria Hinojosa, John Phillip Santos, Jessica Hagedorn, and her editor from Knopf, Robin Desser.

  1. I love your blog! Not enough places to hear, see and read more about Latino literature.

    I saw Sandra last night! (Yes, I left you a tweet about it too but 140 words was not enough.) The NYC Parks Dept. with the Northern Manhattan Alliance for the Arts held a meet and greet and Washington Heights in NYC was her first stop in her tour that celebrates the 25th Anniversary of The House on Mango Street. It is very rare to get someone so big from the arts world to come up to the Heights. Usually you have to go downtown to see them at a B&N so that gets major points from me right there. She was sweet, inspiring, funny, down-to-earth, engaging, gracious. She read from House on Mango Street and from a new work of collected travel pieces, called Writing in Pajamas. I can't rave enough. Every Latino writer, wannabe writer, voracious reader should be out there trying to catch an appearance of hers.
