News: 70th death anniversary of Spanish writer Garcia Lorca

A homage was celebrated yesterday next to the grave which he is thought to be buried. The event was marked by the polemical possible exhumation of his corpse.

It is 70 years since poet and dramatist Federico garcia Lorca was murdered. Such anniversary was celebrated in Afacar, Granada, in the grave where he is thought to have been buried.

70th death anniversary is to be witnessed in Cuba too as a group of writers are going to remember the writer in the Spanish American Centre of Culture un La Habana.

The main poet of the generation of the 27th and one of the most important of the 20th century died when his talent was in its prime. Two months after being shot by dictator Franco´s troops he had just finished one of his most well-known poem book “La Casa de Bernarda Alba” and “Divan de Tamarit.”

Nevertheless, Lorca´s homage has been marked by the debate of the exhumation of his remains. Garcia Lorca´s family have always been opposed to the opening of the grave.
